Thought I’d research more into plant and human cells, maybe a couple of spores, and after an hour or so of doodling with a biro (see photo below) I really ran with the long plant cell structure over a watercolour piece I had. Lots of ink later and I’m really happy I gave it a go. It’s not a keeper, but I feel it will turn into something else further down the line in another painting perhaps. I’ve struggled creating sketchbooks, and I know they can be essential, but I seem to work better on scraps of paper. Do you use scrapbooks to draw in, or collate your sketches in other ways?
