Doodling Saturday
Another doodling day with black ink. Always my go-to when I get a bit stuck with the paints. Yesterday’s painty moment didn’t go as well as hoped, I need to start experimenting with new paper. Can anyone recommend some good mixed media or watercolour paper that can hold a lot of water and inks? If…

Ink and Pastel Sketchbook Art Experiment
A little experiment with some felt pen spots previously in my sketchbook, adding soft pastels and then black ink. I’m enjoying the way the pastels repel the ink. After some drying I added pen on the top. I’d like more texture next time I think, maybe using a sponge with the ink? Ideas for tomorrow…

Army Stencils and Plastic Wrap
I’ve had some metal army stencils for about 15 years and never used them. Today was the day! (Well, yesterday. In the heat they dried super quick!)I’m not sure where to go with them yet, but it will probably involve pens and inks! #abstractart #artist #abstractartist #painting #abstractexpressionism #modernart #contemporaryart #artforsale #artoftheday #abstractpainting

That’s Not What a Gelplate is For!
A bit of fun with powder watercolor squirted with water on a gelplate and bubble wrap. The watercolour paper had watercolour pencil squares already on it. Plew, that’s a lot of watercolour. The second and third pressings were far more delicate, but of course I didn’t record any of them! #abstractart #artist #abstractartist #painting #abstractexpressionism…

Watercolour Ink Mini Paintings
A collection of mini watercolour and ink pieces from the gelplate pull experiment. With extra pen doodles on top. Going to get some more watercolor paper and scissors out later and have another bash with coloured inks, see if they blend into each other, or just make a brown mess (I’m thinking the latter, but…

Glass ink dip pen!

An older and uglier painting style
An older and slightly more manic painting. There’s something about it I really like, but I have no idea why. It won’t allow me to throw it away! Ink and watercolour powder on watercolour paper A4 #abstract #abstractart #artist #painting #artoftheday#abstractexpressionism #abstractpainting

Mini Art in Confined Spaces
Some mini pieces. I don’t have my own space to paint at the moment, so I am very conscious of paint splatters on carpets and walls, so I am working with shapes and being more mindful. It’s actually really good for me as I was a bit too wild. These are acrylic paints and ink…

Anyone else had a heavy day with the paints and pens?
Had a bit of a fight with this one today. I was sticking with the nature cell vibe last night, and things were fine. But today… Oh, today, she did not want to play. That’s why it ended up with the black ink on top. I do like the colours though, so it’s not getting…

Looking at Natures Cells and Making Art
Thought I’d research more into plant and human cells, maybe a couple of spores, and after an hour or so of doodling with a biro (see photo below) I really ran with the long plant cell structure over a watercolour piece I had. Lots of ink later and I’m really happy I gave it a…

Sewing it Up? Using Yarn on Watercolour
This piece kept calling for something else, so after working with string on another idea I thought I’d sew some orange yarn to the piece. Now I feel like I’ve thrown Shredded Wheat cereal over the piece I do like it though! And easier to see than metal wire I’ve used previously Ink brush…

When You Go Too Far With Ink?
Good morning friends! Thought I’d lost this piece when I added the black lines to the side, but the experimenting worked, and after a bit of white pen (I love the Gelly Roll pens so much!) It really worked for me. What do you think? Too heavy on the black ink this time? Ink brush…
